PUBLIC HEARING Notice on Local Liquor Option Referendums - Notice is hereby given that the Municipal Officers of Shapleigh will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Shapleigh Town Hall at 7:00 pm to hear public comment on the following local option questions:

Referendum #1  Sale of liquor for consumption on the premises on days other than Sunday.  Shall this municipality authorize the State to issue licenses for the sale of liquor to be consumed on the premises of licensed establishment on days other than Sunday?4

Referendum #2  Sale of liquor for consumption on the premises on Sundays.  Shall this municipality authorize the State to issue licenses for the sale of liquor to be consumed on the premises of licensed establishments on Sundays?

The public is encouraged to attend.

Shapleigh Recreation Committee (SRC) has a few events for the month of April. 

  1. April 19th - Annual Easter Egg Hunt - 11:00 am at the Shapleigh Commons.  Bring your baskets!  Open for Town of Shapleigh children 10 and under accompanied by an adult.
  2. April 19th - SRC goes bowling - 4:30 pm - 6: 30 pm at Bowl-A-Rama in Sanford.  Cost $5.00 includes 2 hours of bowling, shoes, slice of pizza and a drink.  Registration is required and the Shapleigh Recreation Committee are holding two dates:  1) Saturday April 5th at 10:30 am at the Library, 2) Thursday April 10th 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Town Hall.
  3. April 24th Free Swimming at 7:00 pm at the Sanford YMCA - no registration is required.

MOVIE Night - Shapleigh Library - Friday, April 25th at 6:30 pm - Movie will be Turbo!

Change in the CEO Saturday Schedule - CEO will have office hours on the first Saturday of the Month from 9:00 am - Noon starting May 3, 2014.  There will be no Saturday hours in April.

Williams Town Park Clean Up Day - The Williams Property Advisory Committee has scheduled a clean up day and is looking for volunteers to help.  Date:  Sunday April 27, 2014, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Location: Entrance Gate off County Road.  We will be picking up branches that have fallen in to the roads, cleaning and checking culverts and ditches and some light pruning.  If you have a rake please bring it.  Bottled water will be supplied.  Any questions please call Mark R. Maine Forest Service Town Fire Wardens: - Burning will only be allowed after 5:00 pm and before 9:00 am on class one or two days, unless the ground is completely covered with snow or there is a steady rain.

2014 Snowmobile Safety Courses - Cost is $5.00 per person, Location: Ossipee Mountaineers Snowmobile Club, 255 Old Alfred Road, E Waterboro, ME. To register call: Rebecca 207-294-1194. Students age 10-12 to be accompanied by parent of guardian during the full program. Dates: Feb 9th 8am-4pm, March 24th, 25th & 26th 6:00pm-8:45pm, September 6th 8am-4pm, October 4th 8am-4pm, November 1st 8am-4pm and December 6th 8am-4pm.
