SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

 

WARRANT

 

TO

 

RUSSELL DAY

 

Resident of the Town of Shapleigh

Greetings:

 

 

            In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby required to notify and warn the Inhabitants of the Town of Shapleigh, Maine, qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Shapleigh Town Hall on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 7:00 pm, then and there to act on the following articles, to wit:

 

 

ARTICLE 1.

 

 

To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.

 

ARTICLE 1.

 

 

Robert W. Ferguson was elected by secret ballot to preside.

 

 

ARTICLE 2.

 

 

To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $200,000 from undesignated funds for repairing damage to town roads and bridges caused by the 2007 Patriots Day Nor’easter in the Northern and Southern Districts.

 

 

Board of Selectmen recommends approval

 

Budget Committee recommends

 

 

ARTICLE 2.

 

 

Ronald Small motioned to adopt the article as read; seconded by Bernard Norwald

ARTICLE 3.

 

 

To see if the Town will vote to appropriate any of the FEMA reimbursement, when received, into the undesignated fund.

ARTICLE 3.

 

 

Ronald Small motioned to adopt the article as read; seconded by Bernard Norwald. 

Margaret Moody motioned to amend the article to change the word “any” to “all” of the FEMA reimbursement; seconded by William Mageary.

 

Vote on Amendment:  YES  17  NO  0

 

 

Selectman Perro stated, after conferring with the Treasurer, that the Town is expected to receive additional FEMA funds on behalf of the Fire Dept. for services rendered during the storm and as a result of the amendment, these funds would be restricted for use in repairing roads and bridges.

 

Margaret Moody motioned to amend the article to appropriate all of the FEMA reimbursement pertaining to roads and bridges, when received, into the undesignated fund; seconded by Bernard Norwald.

ARTICLE 4.

 

 

To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $20,000 from undesignated funds for Winter Maintenance.
