Dear Parents,
Wow! How did we get to May so quickly?? We have so many things coming up, but first, we want to thank the parents for the lovely bowl of fruit and the massage sign ups for Teacher Appreciation Week! We also had our duties covered and it sounds like a lot of pampering is in store for us all week……...thank you so much!
As you can see by the calendar, we have testing each morning in the lab for the upper grades. Please be sure your child attends on the day appointed, is well rested and has had a good breakfast. We appreciate your support with this. We want to see what our students have learned to date and we take this very seriously. This also helps us plan for what interventions we may need to put into place before the school year ends, as well as for next year.
This week we have our last PTC meeting. We will be meeting on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM rather than in the afternoon. We will have babysitting available and we do hope to have a good crowd. The agenda is as follows:
1. Treasurer’s Report
2. Old Business
a. Candle Sales
b. Family Fun Night
3. New Business
a. Adopt Bylaws
b. Vote for officers
c. Year End Activities Review (dates and volunteers)
We want to thank all of you for the work you have done thus far this year. You have been the backbone of our fundraisers and assemblies for the children and we are so grateful. This week is a great example of how much work you do on our behalf and for the students and we applaud all of the time and energy you put into making Shapleigh Memorial School a great place to be!
We will have some folks out at the end of the week for a training session, which should give us some more tools for teaching reading and comprehension for those students who continue to struggle. I will also be at UNE this week for review of the student teachers program that gave us our wonderful Lindsey Freeman this year. It is an honor and a pleasure to have worked with such a fabulous young lady. It is her last week here, and we tip our hats to her for such an outstanding job with the fourth graders under the mentorship of Mr. Marines. We wish her good luck in finding a teaching job and hope that maybe some day she will apply here and we’ll get to work with her again in the future.
We all heard that Family Fun Night went off very well and the dunk tank was quite a hit! We are so thankful to all who were able to attend and for those who spent time, energy and money to pull it all off! I have spoken to several who said it was a great night and the children truly had fun! I guess you kids got Mrs. Cadigan wet, even though she vowed to stay bone dry!! Good work everyone.
We need mouse pads for the computer lab. If you work for a company that gives them out as a promotion, we could use about twenty of them. If you have an old one at home and are looking to replace it, we will take your old one for the lab. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.
