To obtain a resident firearms hunting license customer must provide proof of a prior adult firearms hunting license issued since 1976 or proof of successfully completing a hunter safety course.
To obtain a resident archery hunting license customer must provide proof of a prior adult archery hunting license issued since 1980 or proof of successfully completing an archery hunter safety course.
To obtain a resident adult fishing license customer must provide proof of residency.
Fishing licenses are not required of residents under the age of 16.
Each owner or keeper of a dog at the age of 6 months or more, on or before January 1st of each year shall obtain a license.
Valid State of Maine rabies certificates are needed for each dog license.
A dog owner or keeper shall pay a fee of 11.00 for each dog 6 months or older capable of producing young.
A dog owner or keeper shall pay a fee of $6.00 for each dog 6 months or older that is incapable of producing young (written certificate from veterinarian required).
After January 31st, a late fee of $15.00 per dog in addition to the annual license fee shall be paid.
A $25.00 Warrant Fee will be applied
A person having a pack or collection of dogs for the purposes of breeding, hunting, show, training, field trials, and exhibition shall pay a fee of $42.00 for a kennel license. A kennel owner may not keep more than 10 dogs per license. Rabies certificates required for each dog.
Dogs may be licensed on line at www.doglicensing.com from October 15 - January 31st The On-line fee is an additional $1.00 (Vender Fee).

The Town Clerk is the supervisor of elections. The office of the Town Clerk is an alternative absentee voting place for qualified voters.
If you would like to register to vote in Shapleigh, please come into the Clerk's office and fill out a voter registration card. It is important that you show I.D. that has your Shapleigh residence address on it. You must also be at least 18 years of age. Voter registration can take place anytime during our office hours. You may also register to vote on Election Day itself but you must show an I.D. showing your Shapleigh residence. Proper I.D. could be a Maine-Drivers license, car registration, utility bill or even an envelope that has gone through the mail to you at your Shapleigh address. P.O. Boxes cannot be accepted.
Just before any election can be busy in our office, so we recommend you try to register to vote well before election day. If you move within Shapleigh, please let us know so we can update our voter list.
A qualified voter may enroll in a party by filing an application personally or by mail with the Registrar. A voter who is not enrolled in a party may not vote in a Primary Election or a Caucus. A voter may change his enrollment by filing an application with the Registrar personally or by mail. A change in enrollment may not be done 15 days prior to a caucus or primary.
The annual town meeting is held the 2nd Saturday in March at 10:00 a.m. at the ShapleighElementary School. A special town meeting may be called by the Board of Selectman.
The annual municipal election is held the Friday before the town meeting with polls opening at 9:00 a.m. and closing at 8:00 p.m.
Nomination papers for the municipal election are available in the Town Clerk's office 85 days before the election.
